English
English
This half term our writing topic will begin with "A Tiger in the Zoo" (Poem by Leslie Norris). We will explore imagery around animals and how we can create effective poetry to show certain moods and emotions. To finish our poetry unit, we will write poem in a chosen form about an endangered mammal, choosing whether to describe the creature in its natural habitat or in captivity.
We will then move into some non-fiction writing around "Can We Save the Tiger?" by Martin Jenkins. During this unit, we will focus on using modal verbs as well as the use of parenthesis to expand details. To finish this unit, we will write an independent version of the bookelt based on an amazing animal of choice, to provide information, explain and persuade.

Maths
Maths
This half term we will start our learning by revisiting Four Operations II where we will explore Multiplication, both written short methods (4 digit by 1 digit) as well as long written methods (4 digit by 2 digit). We will then continue with a focus on Division, including short and long division.

Science
In Science, our topic is Animals and their habitats. We will look at and design an example of Carl Linnaeus’ classification trees to help us classify animals. We will also explore vertebrates and invertebrates and why they are so different.

History
This term our theme is Frozen Planet. We will be exploring the Arctic and the Antarctic as well as looking at the climate and weather of these areas. We will also explore what wildlife can be found in the polar regions, as well as what is happening to the habitats of these animals.

This half term we will be exploring Textiles: Waistcoats. During this unit, children will plan, cut and create their very own waistcoats for a stuffed animal of their choice. We will begin by planning out the design of our waistcoat, as well as purpose. Children will chalk out their designs on fabric before cutting and sewing the pieces together. They will finish off by adding their final touches like buttons and felt pieces.

RE
This half term we will explore the question, "Why do Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah?". We will begin by exploring what is meant by the term 'Messiah' and whether Jesus met the expectations of the promised Messiah. We will discover specific reasons why most Christians believe that Jesus was the promised one.

Computing
Computing
We will begin this half term by looking at Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. We will use specific cells and formulas to meet the needs of different scenarios. We will also explore different formatting options to support with data analysis.

Spanish
Spanish
This half term, children will learn to talk about their families in Spanish. They’ll create and describe a family tree, practise using adjectives to describe people, and ask and answer questions about siblings and relatives, focusing on speaking and writing in full sentences.

This half term we will explore Health and Wellbeing. We will explore topics such as: setting goals for the future, how we can keep ourselves healthy, resilience, immunisation and what to do if we have concerns about our physical and mental health.
