English
English
This half term we will first explore poetry with "A Sonnet at the Close of Spring" by Charlotte Smith, focusing on developing personification in our writing and making effective language choices. We will then move into Adventure Writing with "Sky Chasers" by Emma Carroll. During this unit we will use powerful verbs for action, dialogue to explain the plot and reveal new information in order to move the story along and convey mood.

This half term we will consolidate our learning and complete any outstanding units to ensure that children are prepared for the transition to high school. Algebra is one of the units we will explore. We will first begin with finding rules in one-step calculations, before building on our knowledge with two-step calculations. We will also explore substitution and how that will impact on our calculations.

Science
Science
This half term, we will be exploring Scientists and Inventors where we will dive into three famous scientists who have made a significant impact on our world today. These are: Charles Darwin, a naturalist and geologist who developed the theory of evolution; David Attenborough, a broadcaster and biologist who explores our natural world; Alan Turing, a mathematician and computer scientist who made significant breakthroughs in World War 2.

This half term we will explore Mountains. We will look at the world's most famous mountain ranges, how mountains themselves are formed, the key features of mountains as well as the weather and environmental impact humans make on our world's mountains.

This half term we will be exploring Playgrounds. Children will have the opportunity to explore what makes a good playground, including the purposeful design and implementation of equipment. They will then decide how to make a model of their playground using crafting materials available in class. During this time, we will also develop our understanding of what shapes make strong structures.

This half term we will explore the question, "Why do some people believe in God and some people not?" We will begin by exploring patterns in our local area, our country and the world, before digging deeper into what we mean by the terms "Atheist", "Agnostic" and "Theist".

Computing
Computing
This half term in Computing we will be exploring Quizzing and how we can develop effective and meaningful quizzes. We will be able to identify the different types of electronic quizzes and games we can make and what makes them effective. We will then complete our Computing curriculum by exploring Binary, and how binary numbers help us with computer programming.

Spanish
Spanish
This half term in Spanish, children will be learning how to describe their town and local area. They’ll revisit places in town, directions, and transport, and learn how to ask for and give information about where things are. They’ll build longer sentences using time phrases, connectives, and prepositions, and practise role-playing real-life conversations such as asking for help in a shop or giving directions. The unit ends with children designing and presenting their own Spanish-speaking town. It’s a fantastic way to round off their primary Spanish journey with practical language they can use in real situations.

PE
Year 6 are working on strength, stamina and technique across all areas of athletics. They’ll take part in a range of track and field events, including sprinting, relays, jumps and throws. Pupils will learn how to warm up effectively, evaluate their own performances and support others — all while aiming for their personal best.

PSHE
This half term we will explore Economic Wellbeing explore choices related to navigating feelings about money, keeping money safe and managing finances in secondary school. We will then move onto Identity and how children can develop their own individual identity and positive self-worth.
