Reception will be reading a beautiful story called 'Albert the Little Green Dinosaur' as part of their Talk for Writing unit. This text will be used to support them in creating their own ideas. Children will learn actions to support the retelling of the story, create a class story map to sequence the story, and have plentiful writing opportunities throughout. Some of our writing opportunities will include writing a description of a dinosaur, writing a list of food for a dinosaur shop, and attempting to write questions to the main character. Additionally, children will be writing short, simple sentences about their own stories at the end of the unit.

Some texts will be closely related to our new topic, whilst others might make up our reading for pleasure.
