Literacy
Literacy
Reception will be reading rich texts like "Three Little Pigs" as part of their Talk for Writing unit. This text will be used to support them in creating their own ideas. Children will engage in some simple writing activities, matched to their phonics ability, to explore different aspects of the story.

Maths
Maths
Children will be exploring numbers to 5, comparing numbers within 5, and looking at 2D and 3D shapes. The children will be engaging in our Power Maths carpet sessions and completing focus activities to support their learning. Our provision will have plentiful enhancements for the children to use and develop their skills.

Communication and Language
Children will enjoy discussing different emotions and feelings, the importance of being able to self-regulate and how to cope with big feelings. Children will have many opportunities to engage in conversations and discuss a variety of topics.

Personal, Socal and Emotional Development
Personal, Socal and Emotional Development
Through stories and circle time, children will be thinking about self-regulation and exploring emotions. The children will begin to show understanding of feelings and emotions by recognising and expressing emotions appropriately, manage strong feelings and respond positively to emotions in themselves and others. We will focus on some new vocabulary such as:

Physical Development
Physical Development
Children will be developing their gross motor skills during our PE lessons. We will be following Active Tameside's 'Little Stars' scheme of work to develop our throwing and catching skills. In addition to this, children will have plentiful opportunities to develop their fine motor skills by engaging in well thought through enhancements in our provision. Activities might include threading, pompom picking, finger painting, cotton bud painting, and cutting.

Understanding The World
Understanding The World
Children will be exploring 'Being Special- Where Do We Belong' as part of our Religious Education lessons. We will reflect upon the things that are special to us and why we value these things. Some key vocabulary will include:

Expressive Art and Design
Expressive Art and Design
In our Art and Design sessions, children will be exploring painting and mixed media. The sole focus is 'Paint My World'. We will be exploring paint and painting techniques through nature, music and collaborative work. Developing creativity through child-led exploration of mixed-media, making collages and transient art.
