Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10
At Parochial CE Primary School, our Christian vision shapes our inclusive approach to education. We are committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive — academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

We believe all children have the right to a high-quality education, regardless of their individual needs or challenges. Our approach is rooted in early identification, high expectations, and a strong partnership with parents and carers.

Our Offer for Children with SEND

Identifying Needs Early

We use a range of assessments, teacher observations, and input from parents and carers to identify additional needs as early as possible.

Our Approach to Support

We follow the Assess – Plan – Do – Review model, ensuring children’s needs are met through high-quality teaching, adapted provision, and evidence-based interventions. We aim for support to be proactive, responsive and inclusive.

Working With Families

Parents and carers are central to the support process. Review meetings are held each term to update plans, celebrate progress, and set new targets. Tools such as One Page Profiles and 4+1 Planning meetings help structure these discussions.

Emotional and Mental Health

Wellbeing is at the heart of our SEND provision. We use the Zones of Regulation across school and offer calm corners, nurture support, and staff trained in mental health first aid.

Inclusion in Trips and Clubs

All children are included in school trips, residentials and after-school clubs. Where needed, risk assessments and reasonable adjustments are made so every child can take part safely and confidently.

Supporting Transitions

From starting school in Nursery or Reception to moving on to secondary school, we offer personalised transition plans. These may include additional visits, meetings with future schools, and support from outside professionals.

External Agencies We Work With

We have strong links with a range of external services including:

  • Educational Psychology (Tameside)

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

  • Occupational Therapy (OT)

Accessibility and Inclusion
