Literacy
Literacy
Reception will be reading a classic 'Little Red Riding Hood' as part of their Talk for Writing unit. This text will be used to support them in creating their own ideas. Children will learn actions to support the retelling of the story, create a class story map to sequence the story, and have plentiful writing opportunities throughout. Some of our writing opportunities will include writing a get well card for Grandma, writing descriptive phrases about the Wolf, and some instructions on how to save Grandma.

Maths
Maths
Children will be exploring numbers to 10, comparing numbers to 10, addition to 10 and measure - height, length and weight. The children will engage in our Power Maths sessions and complete focus tasks in small groups to help deepen their understanding. The children will have access to rich enhancements within the provision to support their learning and understanding.

Communication and Language
Communication and Language
Children will engage in discussions around people who help us in the community. We will explore different job roles like doctors, vets, opticians, firefighters and police officers. The children will have a visit from our local PCSO to discuss right and wrong, this will form part of the children's WOW learning. We will have plentiful opportunities to discuss a variety of rich texts and further enhance their knowledge and skills.

Personal, Socal and Emotional Development
Through stories and circle time, children will be focusing on why we have rules, the importance of persistence and perseverance in the face of challenges, learn how to communicate effectively with others, practice 'grounding' coping strategies, and to learn new skills that will help them show resilience and perseverance in the face of challenge. Some key vocabulary includes: safe, confident, right, wrong and resilience.

Physical Development
Physical Development
Children will be developing their gross motor skills during our PE lessons. We will be following Active Tameside's 'Little Tumblers' scheme of work to develop gymnastic skills. In addition to this, children will have plentiful opportunities to develop their fine motor skills by engaging in dough disco, painting different autumnal animals, and cutting and sticking.

Understanding The World
Understanding The World
Children will be exploring 'Why is the word God so important to Christians?'. The pupils find out about the Christian belief that God created the heavens and the earth. They will learn the key events from the creation story found in Genesis 1. They will find out many Christians believe the earth and everything in it belongs to God and that God gave people the job of taking care of the world. Our key vocabulary includes: CHRISTIANS • GOD • CREATION • ADAM •EVE • BIBLE •PARABLE •PRECIOUS • JESUS •PEARL.

Expressive Art and Design
Expressive Art and Design
In our Art sessions we will be focusing on our new unit drawing. Our main focus is 'Marvellous Marks'. The children will be exploring mark making through different drawing materials. Beginning to draw from observation using faces and self-portraits as a stimulus.
In Reception, we use Class Dojo to set and submit homework tasks.
