PETravelling using equipment
PE
This term, the children will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of games through a focus on basketball, hockey and football. Over the first few weeks they will learn how to travel with equipment, pass and dribble the ball effectively and refine their passing and receiving techniques in basketball. The unit will then move onto hockey, where pupils will learn how to hold a stick correctly, develop control when dribbling and take part in small-sided games whilst considering safety and rules. Later in the term, the focus will shift to football where the children will practice dribbling, changing direction with control, and applying those skills in small-sided competitive games.
-
Dance
Dance
This term, the children will be developing their dance skills by learning to copy and repeat simple movements with increasing control and coordination. They will explore changes in speed, size, and direction working with a partner to short movement sequences, and perform simple movements to music. The children will also begin reflecting on their performances by talking about what they did and how they moved.
-

ComputingPictograms and Lego builders.
Computing
This term in computing, the children will be learning about pictorgrams and following instructions. They will explore how data can be collected, represented and interpreted and how precise instructions help computers complete tasks.
In the first part of the unit, the children will learn to represent data using pictorgrams. They will discuss and illustrate the transport they use to travel to school, contribute to class data collection, and use their illustrations to create simple pictorgrams. Later they will apply these skills to record the results of an experiment, such has rolling a dice 20 times and display the outcomes in pictorgram form.
Later in the term, the children will focus on following and creating instructions, both with lego builders and on the computer. They will learn that to achieve the correct result, instructions must be precise and in the correct order. The children will be introduced to the concept of algorithm, a step by step set of instructions and will practice following, creating and debugging simple programs. Through these activities they will develop an understanding of how computers need clear instructions and how correcting mistakes in an algorithm is called debugging.
-
Spanish
Spanish
This half term, children will continue their introduction to Spanish by learning simple greetings and counting from one to ten. Through songs, stories and games they'll start to recognise basic words and practice saying short phrases with growing confidence.

Next the children will make and join their puppets, following the sequence of steps in their design. Finally, they will decorate their puppets to match their original ideas and reflect on their finished products, explaining what they are like and what they might change next time. Through these activities, children develop practical DT skills, creativity and the ability to evaluate their own work.

As part of their learning, the children will explore compass directions (North, South, East and West) and use them to provide instructions, understanding how pirates used navigation to travel across the seas. They will also use atlases and globes to identify all 7 continents and learn that they live in a different continent of Europe.
Through these activities, the children will develop their geographical knowledge, map reading skills and understanding of the world, whilst engaging with an exciting pirate-themed context.
