• Literacy
  Literacy

  Children will learn to recognise and read their names. We will be reading the stories 'The Leaf Thief', 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt', 'The Very Helpful Hedgehog' and 'Owl Babies'. These stories look at the Autumn season and the changes that happen around is. We will learn about hibernation and what that means.

• Maths
  Maths

  Through hands-on activities, children will count objects, pointing out the last number, play number games and collect a specific number of items, use their fingers to represent numbers up to 5, link numerals and amounts throughout the setting, sort objects by size and capacity and categorise by colour.

• Communication and Language
  Communication and Language

  Children will learn simple Makaton signs to help them communicate and to help retell stories. They will discuss their own feelings and the feelings of others. They will take part in circle time discussions, being encouraged to use other children's names and they will be encouraged to expand their vocabulary through key vocabulary activities.

• Personal, Socal and Emotional Development
  Personal, Socal and Emotional Development

  This half term, children will be encouraged to be as independent as possible. Putting their coats on, zipping them up and also asking for help when they require it.

  Children will take part in circle games, these will encourage them to interact with other children and also work as a team.

• Physical Development

  Children will develop their fine motor skills through activities that encourage scooping, threading, building, squeezing and weaving.

  They will develop their gross motor skills by taking part in dough disco and squiggle whilst you wiggle sessions, they will also use scooters, balance bikes and footballs whilst outside.

• Understanding The World
  Understanding The World

  Children will learn all about Autumn, they will observe the changes that happen throughout the season. They will look at leaves and fruits/plants that grow at this time of year. Children will learn about hibernation and which animals tend to hibernate at this time of year.

  They will dress appropriately for the weather and we will discuss why these clothes choices are the appropriate ones.

  Expressive Art and Design

  Children will be given opportunities to explore and experiment with various materials and media to express their creativity and imagination. They will explore activities such as painting, drawing, engaging with music & dance and pretend play.

  They will develop their fine motor skills through activities such as cutting, sticking and using playdough.
